Portcullis Cricket Club
Portcullis is a cricket club that plays in the Aberdeenshire Cricket Association Grades.
The web site features a news page, picture gallery, automatically generated content from RSS feeds and a fully featured team management module in the "members only" area.
Club officials can enter the season's fixture list, and then team members can log in and mark the games that they are available for. The "availability summary" then shows who is available for which games, and this makes team selection very much easier. Games where there is likely to be a shortage of players can be identified weeks in advance.
Once a team is picked, the individuals are automatically notified by SMS text message and email.
This system has dramatically reduced the effort involved in turning out a team every Saturday. Gone are the days of phoning around on a Friday evening deperately trying to find another two players. Portcullis now picks and notifies the team on four days in advance, and has turned out a full team for every game since 2004.
